Four war-displaced Japanese from China left Tokyo for Beijing on Sunday after completing a partially successful six-day search for their long-lost relatives.
The only one to identify a relative during the visit was Han Tonglai of Jiangxi Province, who met his brother on Saturday after decades of separation caused by the end of the war, the Health and Welfare Ministry said.
Han, 63, was confirmed to be the brother of a man from Fukui Prefecture who asked not to be identified, ministry officials said. The two siblings met Saturday afternoon at the National Olympic Memorial Youth Center in Tokyo, where the war orphans stayed after arriving on Tuesday, they said.
