Foreign Press Center/Japan will hold its annual one-day Asia-Pacific Journalists Meeting on Nov. 30 in Tokyo.
Journalists from Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan and the United States, as well as a journalism scholar from Hong Kong, will discuss whether English is essential for the growth and development of Asia under the title "Only English, Please -- A Recipe for Asia's Growth in the 21st Century?" There will be two subthemes: "IT Revolution and English" and "National Cultures and English."
The Asia-Pacific Journalists Meeting, organized by the Foreign Press Center every year since 1995 in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and the Japan Foundation, is being presented this year with the cooperation of The Japan Times.
It will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Japan Foundation Conference Hall on the 20th floor of the Ark Mori Bldg. located at Akasaka 1-chome in Minato Ward.
The discussion will be in English, with simultaneous Japanese translation provided.
