The two men who were with Japanese Red Army founder Fusako Shigenobu when she was arrested Wednesday morning in Osaka Prefecture are believed to be key supporters of the group in the Kansai region, police sources said Thursday.
The men, whose names are being withheld, apparently helped Shigenobu, 55, hide from police after her return to Japan, a violation of the Penal Code against harboring a fugitive, they said.
Shigenobu has remained silent and refuses to discuss the allegations against her with police, although she calmly responds to regular conversation topics, investigators said.
