A man spearheading a local citizens' effort to stop construction on a controversial parking lot entrance proposed by Tokyo's Shibuya Ward was found hanged at his residence early Monday, police said.
According to police, company executive Kei Mori, 75, was found hanged on the veranda of his apartment in the Shibuya Homes complex in the ward's Udagawacho district at around 2:30 a.m.
Several suicide notes were found in his room, including one addressed to the ward's mayor, Motoi Ogura, in which Mori complained about the construction plan.
