Japan decided Tuesday to provide over $1 million in emergency aid to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to help it carry out free and fair elections in Kosovo this weekend, the Foreign Ministry said.
Foreign Minister Yohei Kono reported at Tuesday's Cabinet meeting the decision to give the financial grant -- totaling $1,041,000 -- which would help carry out the municipal elections in Kosovo and assist in the process of democratizing Yugoslavia, the ministry said.
