Mitsubishi Corp. said Monday it will begin operating convenience stores from October, becoming the first major Japanese trading house to do so.
Mitsubishi will open a 24-hour convenience store in the Marunouchi business district in central Tokyo on Oct. 31, the company said.
Ahead of the opening, Mitsubishi will set up a convenience store-operating company in early October and conclude a franchise contract with major convenience store operator Lawson Inc., it said.
