Five prefectural governors admitted that mistakes have been made in the past concerning people with disabilities and to learn from them to create a society that is easier for disabled people to live in.
For the final day of a U.S.-Japan symposium on information technology and the disabled, the governors of Iwate, Miyagi and Mie prefectures were joined via video transmission by their counterparts in Shizuoka and Kochi.
They suggested putting aside pride and prefectural prestige in order to cooperate and pave the way for a society in which people can work regardless of disabilities.
