The Education Ministry plans to build a fiber-optic cable network to link schools in some parts of the country to allow the transfer of audio and visual information between them, ministry officials said Saturday.

The ministry also plans to introduce large displays and cellular phones capable of accessing the Internet for use in classes at those schools, the officials said.

Under the ministry plan, the large displays will be for classes requiring visual explanation, while the cellular phones can be used by students when they need to request information during field research.

The ministry will select 18 areas across the country to implement the measures on an experimental basis.
