OSAKA -- Prosecutors said Wednesday that they will not appeal the Aug. 10 court ruling that gave former Osaka Gov. "Knock" Yokoyama a suspended jail term for molesting a 22-year-old former campaign worker last year.
The decision will effectively finalize the Osaka District Court ruling on Yokoyama, since the former governor himself has indicated that he will not appeal the ruling to a higher court.
Nobuaki Sato, deputy chief prosecutor at the Osaka District Public Prosecutor's Office, said the decision was reached in consultation with higher prosecution authorities.
