Nifty Corp., a leading Japanese Internet service provider, said Wednesday that it has agreed to promote Internet-based services with two Samsung Group companies of South Korea.
Nifty will connect its Internet service network with that of Unitel Co., a leading ISP in South Korea, under the agreement. The connection will enable users of the two networks to gain access to each other's service, beginning in November.
Samsung Corp., which operates the biggest online shopping mall in South Korea, will provide electronic commerce and other services through the linked networks.
The latest agreement is part of Nifty's plan to promote joint services with overseas ISPs. It is undertaking joint projects with the biggest ISPs in Hong Kong and Singapore to realize broad Internet-based business tieups.
