Residents of Miyake Island's Igaya district were allowed to return home Monday morning following Friday's volcanic eruption of Mount Oyama.
In lifting the evacuation order for Igaya, the Miyake Municipal Office has cleared all 2,162 of the island's approximate 3,800 residents affected by directives immediately after the eruption to go home. The order affected residents of the Tsubota, Kamitsuki and Igaya districts around the volcano.
Meanwhile, about 300 members of the Ground Self-Defense Force arrived on the island Monday to help residents clean up volcanic ash from the eruption.
