Apple Japan Inc. announced Monday that it will begin selling the basic model of its new iMac series of personal computers in Japan from Aug. 29, the second anniversary of the initial launch of the iMac in Japan.
The manufacturer's asking price for the basic model will be 98,000 yen, tax excluded, according to the firm.
Apple Japan maintains that it is the first computer maker to incorporate an optical mouse -- a mouse with an optical sensor -- as a standard feature. The mouse will also come with the basic model.
The basic model will come in indigo and uses a 350-MHz PowerPC G3 processor.
The new iMac models were first unveiled last month, and other models in the lineup went on sale in Japan on July 28.
