One of the questions surrounding a group of Liberal Democratic Party members trying to stand up to the old guard is who the group would support in the next LDP presidential race.
According to many members of the Group to Create the LDP's Tomorrow, maverick Makiko Tanaka, daughter of the late Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka, is one prospective candidate.
Although Tanaka, 56, a Lower House member from a Niigata constituency since 1993, admits that she believes Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori needs to be removed from the post, she remains hesitant to say she is looking to replace him.
