A 29-year-old TV Asahi employee was arrested Thursday for allegedly videotaping women changing clothes in a bathroom at a hot spring resort in Shimoda, Shizuoka Prefecture, police said.
Police said Satoshi Inoue, an employee of the broadcaster's technical department from Kawasaki, was peeping through a window at two young women in a bathroom at around 2 a.m. Thursday.
The women came eye to eye with Inoue, who was videotaping them with his camcorder, and screamed, they said.
Inoue immediately fled the scene holding his camcorder, while the women went to inform the inn's 31-year-old owner, they added.
The owner chased the suspect for about 100 meters before catching him and then handed him over to police, they said.
Inoue was on vacation and staying at a hotel near the inn to surf at the beach, police said.
TV Asahi said it regrets that its employee was involved in such a crime.
