The U.S. International Trade Commission ruled Wednesday that tin products imported from Japan are hurting U.S. industry, clearing the way for the Commerce Department to impose punitive dumping duties on them.

The ITC's final ruling on the case, filed last October, allows the Commerce Department to order customs officials to collect duties that correspond to the dumping margins set by the department earlier.

The dumping margin for tin products imported from NKK Corp., Nippon Steel Corp., Kawasaki Steel Corp. and Toyo Kohan Co. is 95.29 percent.

The dumping margin for products from all other Japanese tin makers is 32.5 percent.
