Japan's household spending fell an inflation-adjusted 1.8 percent in June from a year before to 297,986 yen, the Management and Coordination Agency said Thursday.
The dip in average household spending -- a key economic gauge -- follows a real 1.9 percent drop in May, the agency said in a preliminary report. Personal consumption accounts for 60 percent of Japan's gross domestic product.
Household spending has been following a zigzag course since February, when a five-month slide ended.
