Snow Brand Milk Products Co. employees offered free cups of milk Wednesday to people in Noda, Chiba Prefecture, in an effort to demonstrate that the firm's products are safe in the wake of a widespread food-poisoning outbreak.

Sumio Ogawa, head of the firm's Noda factory, and other plant employees poured cold milk for people at Noda City Hall.

"It was hard for us to simply wait at the plant while our business was suspended," Ogawa said. "We will make every effort to recover our customers' trust in our products as soon as possible."

Yuki Inoue, a 31-year-old housewife and one of the people who was offered milk, said, "I am no longer concerned about Snow Brand's milk."
