Hyundai Motor Co. will enter the Japanese market in January with an aggressive sales plan, taking advantage of expanding cultural and business exchanges between the country and South Korea, the president of the firm's Japanese affiliate said.

Speaking in fluent Japanese, Kim Jin Su, president of Hyundai Motor Japan Co., said his mission is to raise the presence of vehicles made by Hyundai, South Korea's largest automaker, in the second-largest automotive market in the world.

"Japan is a very important market for us to promote our global strategies," said Kim, who also serves as an executive vice president of the South Korean parent company. "As Japan's economy is gradually recovering, I think that sales of imported vehicles will grow and we can find a business opportunity here by offering appealing vehicles."
