Having dealt with most of the issues that brought them to this city, the leaders of the Group of Eight nations went their separate ways Sunday with a communique in hand.

Saying he was hungry, the Italian wandered over to the buffet-style counters and asked attendants which of the dishes were Okinawan.

His choice -- a tomato-based stew made with Okinawan pork and steamed dumplings stuffed with arrowhead nuts and pickled seaweed, a specialty of the island prefecture -- seemed to suit his palette.
