Leaders of the Group of Eight major nations began arriving in Okinawa Prefecture on Thursday to prepare for today's opening of the three-day summit.
Before flying to Okinawa in the evening, Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori held a series of bilateral talks with some of the G8 leaders who stopped over in Tokyo on their way to the summit venue.
Mori's scheduled talks Thursday with U.S. President Bill Clinton were postponed due to Clinton's delayed departure from Mideast peace talks held at Camp David, Md.
