This year's fifth typhoon, named Tenbin, Japanese for the constellation Libra, has hatched in the Pacific Ocean south of Japan, the Meteorological Agency said Wednesday.

As of 6 p.m., Typhoon No. 5 was moving north at a speed of 15 kph from a position about 60 km north-northeast of the island of Chichijima, the agency said.

It had an atmospheric pressure of 996 hectopascals and maximum wind speeds of 64.8 kph near its center, with winds of more than 54 kph measured within a radius of 110 km, the agency said.
