In a joint recommendation at the end of their two-day meeting, business leaders from Japan and Europe on Tuesday called on officials of both sides to examine their local network-access policies in a bid to promote information technology.
The EU-Japan Business Dialogue Round Table also issued a separate policy statement urging an early launch of new trade liberalization talks under the World Trade Organization.
However, the annual gathering of 44 business executives stopped short of commenting on the row between Japan and the United States over interconnection fees charged by Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. for use of its local networks.
