Business leaders urged the government Monday to act promptly to ease regulations and concentrate its resources on information technology and other key growth industries to achieve a "reborn Japan."
Among the suggestions was one for a new package of legislation focusing on the promotion of e-commerce.
Proposals were made during the first meeting of the governmental panel on industrial rebirth, which was established earlier this month under the new Cabinet of Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori and consists of 15 industrial representatives and 19 Cabinet members.
