A noodle maker in southwestern Japan is recalling up to 150,000 packages of pasta and fried noodles following consumer reports of moldy, boiled spaghetti made by the firm, company officials have said.

Hagakure in Taku, Saga Prefecture, issued the recall Friday, after receiving complaints from two Saga consumers who had bought 200-gram packages of boiled spaghetti produced June 29. It later discovered that pasta in stock also contained mold, the officials said Saturday.

Hagakure is recalling between 100,000 and 150,000 packages of spaghetti and "yakisoba" fried noodles shipped nationwide from June 30 to Friday with "best-before" dates of Nov. 28 to Dec. 6. The packages were made on the same production line as the boiled spaghetti, they said.

The firm is suspending production of the products until their safety is confirmed, the officials said.
