Fujitsu Ltd. and Idemitsu Kosan Co. announced Friday that the two firms will set up a joint electronic commerce venture in July to offer auto-related services via the Internet.
The new firm, Kurumark Co., will introduce a Web site in October that will carry service information on about 40 Idemitsu gas stations and auto repair factories in Tokyo's Tama district and Yokohama.
The company will be capitalized at 200 million yen, with Idemitsu holding an 80 percent stake and Fujitsu owning the rest. It expects to increase the number of service shops on the Web site to 2,000 and make 40 billion yen in sales in 2005, company officials said.
Consumers can make reservations for services including car inspections, washes and repairs through the Internet. Information on new and used cars as well as other auto-related information will also be offered.
