National Police Agency chief Setsuo Tanaka told senior police officials at a meeting Tuesday to make juvenile crime suspects reflect on their offenses.
Referring to a string of crimes involving youths, Tanaka said, "It is extremely important to urge boys without a sense of discipline to repent for what they have done. I would like you to manage public safety and police duties from the standpoint of the people."
A total of 170 senior police officers from across Japan attended the meeting at the NPA's headquarters in Tokyo.
