Liberal Party leader Ichiro Ozawa indicated Wednesday that a final decision on whether he will take the party out of the ruling coalition will be made after he receives word from the Liberal Democratic Party on the possibility of further electoral cooperation.
Ozawa warned party members during a closed general meeting Wednesday afternoon that the party is in a "critical condition," but he failed to form a consensus on his suggestion that the party leave the LDP-led ruling bloc.
The Liberal Party leader claimed that the tripartite coalition does not have sufficient public support and that the party will suffer severe losses in the coming general election if it remains in the triumvirate as is, according to party sources.
