OSAKA -- Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. will establish an in-house company Saturday to create a shared information system within the Matsushita group, company officials said Wednesday.
Corporate Information Systems Co., Matsushita's fifth in-house company with management autonomy, will receive orders to create and manage information systems from divisions at Matsushita, four in-house firms -- including AVC Co. and Home Appliance and Housing Electronics Co. -- and group companies.
Corporate Information Systems will combine them into a common system.
With a staff of around 1,000 from within the Matsushita group, Corporate Information Systems will also sell information technology, such as computer systems for electronic commerce, to outside companies. First-year sales are targeted at 50 billion yen.
The creation of the in-house company is in line with Matsushita's strategy to promote its information technology business.
The consumer electronics giant has set aside 100 billion yen for IT spending in the coming three years.
