Four members of the Japanese Red Army who were deported from Lebanon were taken into police custody shortly after their arrival at Narita airport Saturday afternoon.

Forcibly returned to Japan after being deported from Lebanon on Friday and denied entry to Jordan on Saturday were Masao Adachi, 60, Haruo Wako, 51, Mariko Yamamoto, 59, and Kazuo Tohira, 47.

The four face charges including attempted murder and the use of forged passports.

Adachi, Wako and Yamamoto were immediately arrested and sent to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, and Tohira, whose trial was underway before he left Japan as part of an exchange for hostages in 1975, was returned to prison at the Tokyo detention house.
