Sega Enterprises, Ltd. and Swatch, A.G. on Thursday announced three new collaboration projects to enhance their Internet entertainment services. The two firms said one of the projects will entail the launch this year of a new service called "Internet & Wearable," for which Swatch will begin marketing a Swatch Access watch with built-in memory chip in April. By aiming the face of the watch at a special adapter for Sega's Dreamcast game machines, users can access a Web site. Sega will start selling the adapter within the year. Another of the collaborations involves Sega incorporating Swatch Internet Time function, a standard time unit for the Internet invented by the watch maker, in its Dreamcast game machines. Software for the time function applicable to Dreamcast machines will be put on the Japanese market in spring. By using the function, Net users across the world can coordinate activities using a globally standard time, according to the two firms. In the third joint project, Swatch will market Sega-designed watches which feature Swatch Internet Time function, in addition to ordinary watch functions. The three new projects follow 18 existing collaboration projects between Sega and Swatch, they said.
