NAGOYA -- A woman arrested Thursday for selling sleeping pills to a woman for use in a suicide attempt has frequently posted messages about suicide drugs on a Web site, police alleged Friday.
The 32-year-old resident of Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, who helped the suicide attempt of a woman from Shizuoka by providing her with sleeping pills, posted detailed information about drugs for suicide on an Internet bulletin board, police said. Neither woman was identified.
The Shizuoka woman unsuccessfully attempted suicide in August at a hotel in Aichi Prefecture by taking 100 tablets of carisoprodol, a sleeping drug containing a muscle relaxant, which she allegedly acquired from the Hyogo woman.
The Shizuoka woman, who paid 50,000 yen to the Hyogo woman for the drug, has since recovered, police said.
The Hyogo woman posted messages explaining the effect and lethal doses of various drugs that can be used for suicide, they said.
The woman also claimed she had drugs that could bring instant death, and that she could provide almost any kind of drug suitable for suicide. She took orders for her drugs via e-mail.
Police believe the Shizuoka woman became interested in suicide drugs after being prescribed various drugs at a hospital she frequented.
