Three former Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank executives were given suspended eight-month sentences Thursday for extending illegal loans to a "sokaiya" corporate racketeer.
The Tokyo District Court found former Vice President Akira Kanazawa, 64, former Vice President Ichiro Fujita, 60, and former Managing Director Yasuyuki Terasawa, 58, guilty of conspiring with other DKB executives to make illicit loans to sokaiya Ryuichi Koike in violation of the Commercial Code.
Kanazawa's sentence was suspended for four years, while Fujita's and Terasawa's terms were suspended for three.
