Government ministries and agencies are expected to ask for more than 82.5 trillion yen in budget requests for fiscal 2000 beginning next April, it was learned Wednesday.
The estimate exceeds the 81.86 trillion yen requested for the current fiscal year, marking the second consecutive year of massive spending.
As the nation's economy finally begins to show some signs of recovery, the government intends to continue aggressive fiscal spending to ensure the trend continues, government sources said.
