Softbank Corp. said Monday it plans to propose at a shareholders' meeting later this month the appointment of five new outside board directors, including Den Fujita, president of McDonald's Co. (Japan).
The other four are business consultant Kenichi Ohmae, Keio University professor Jun Murai, Orix Corp. President Yoshihiko Miyauchi and Hikari Tsushin Inc. President Yasumitsu Shigeta.
If approved at the June 22 meeting, five of the nine Softbank board members will be from outside from the company, Softbank said.
Softbank President Son Masayoshi announced last month that the company plans to become a pure holding firm on Oct. 1, focusing solely on investment in Internet-related businesses.
