The Finance Ministry will launch a new advisory council today to study the changing nature of the nation's money flow from saving and investment patterns in the graying society to ongoing financial system reform, Vice Minister Koji Tanami said Thursday.
The panel will explore how the flow of funds should develop in the 21st century, Tanami told a news conference.
The ministry will use conclusions formed during the discussions as a basis for its policy-planning and administration, he added.
Large-scale fundraising in the public sector and the reform of fiscal investment and loans programs are also expected to be examined. The panel comprises 11 experts and is to be headed by Masaaki Honma, vice president of Osaka University. They will meet about twice a month for a year, ministry officials said.
