An Immigration Office official was arrested earlier this month for possessing illegal drugs, apparently obtained through the Internet, it was learned Friday.
Hiroyuki Ota, 31, an immigration officer at Narita Airport, was arrested Monday at his home in Toshima Ward, Tokyo, according to the Justice Ministry. Ota is suspected of possessing MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, and 2C-B, a hallucinogen, which he obtained through an Internet home page, officials said. 2C-B was made illegal last year, and Ota's arrest is the first case to be exposed in the country, they said.
