"As things stand now, I have no way but to die by the roadside. Even if I get a job, I'm too weak to work," said a 60-year-old former day-laborer who has been homeless for five months.
The man, who asked that he not be identified because he is so ashamed of his plight, said he lives on a daily bowl of porridge from a volunteer group.
It was evident that his physical strength has been declining due to hunger or malnutrition, as well as exposure to the elements.
