More than 3,000 cosmetic items worth about 25 million yen were stolen early Sunday from a store in Tokyo's Koto Ward, police said Monday.
The 62-year-old owner of the cosmetics shop, who lives in the same building, said that at 5 a.m. Sunday he discovered seven or eight Asian foreigners loading goods from his store into a vehicle parked in front of his shop. When the man checked the store, he found large amounts of perfume, lipstick and other goods had been stolen.
He then called police, who searched the immediate vicinity. They arrested a 36-year-old Chinese man from Shanghai who had no passport, for illegally residing in Japan and other immigration law violations.
