The Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers conference came to an end Friday with a statement urging several international organizations to aid developing countries and economies with their efforts to build national PRTR systems.
All countries without PRTRs, a system obliging companies to disclose the volume of their chemical-substance emissions, were also asked to consider national PRTRs design processes and ensure that all affected parties will be able to participate in the process.
The three-day conference in Tokyo was organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and attracted about 160 administrative experts and researchers from 33 countries.
