The family of late fashion designer Ichiro Kimijima failed to report about 300 million yen in taxable inheritance assets he left behind after dying in 1996, it was learned Tuesday.
Taking the advice of the Tokyo National Tax Administration Bureau, the bereaved family reportedly has revised its inheritance tax report to show that Kimijima, who was 67 when he died, left about 640 million yen worth in assets.
Taxation authorities also ordered Kimijima's family to pay an additional 70 million yen in inheritance taxes on the unreported assets, sources said.
