Tokyo and Beijing will begin formal talks this summer to determine a new two-year yen-loan package for China's infrastructure and other development projects, Foreign Ministry sources said Friday.
The talks, to start in late July or August, will be agreed upon during Foreign Minister Keizo Obuchi's trip to Beijing in mid-July, when he meets with Chinese leaders, the sources said. The loan package will cover fiscal 1999 and 2000.
