Outgoing Greek Ambassador George Sioris received several Japanese academic distinctions recently for his cultural activities.
Sioris was appointed a visiting researcher at the International College of Advanced Buddhist Studies in Tokyo and received the Soka University Award of the Highest Honor. He also has been invited to serve as a member and academic adviser of the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu, Oita Prefecture, as well as vice president of the newly established Culture Exchange Association Center.
Sioris will resign at the end of the year as president of the Asiatic Society of Japan but will continue collaborating with the society.
