Kenya's new ambassador to Japan presented her credentials to the Emperor last week.
Ambassador Esther Mshai Tolle and the Emperor hailed the friendship between the two nations Friday afternoon at the Imperial Palace and discussed the need to further strengthen bilateral ties.
Tolle is the first female ambassador from sub-Saharan Africa to Japan, and the second from the African continent. She has served in Kenya's foreign affairs ministry since 1975 and headed its International Organizations and Conferences Division, as well as the Americas Division, before her appointment in November.
