OSAKA -- A Taiwanese woman was stabbed to death Monday night on a street in Tennoji Ward here, and police are searching for a 46-year-old man who they believe murdered her.
Police said the victim, Zhang Feng Huang, 41, of Naniwa Ward, was walking with a friend at about 10 p.m. when Hideo Sakamoto, 46, of Nishi-Yodogawa Ward, Osaka, got out of a white car and attacked her, stabbing her repeatedly in the back and neck. Witnesses said Sakamoto then took off in the vehicle, which is believed to have been stolen in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture.
Investigators said Sakamoto had reportedly been stalking and harassing Huang for some time. Police have placed him on a wanted list and obtained an arrest warrant for him. Zhang was rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead from massive blood loss.
