The Metropolitan Police Department on April 7 placed six ultra-leftists on a nationwide wanted list on suspicion of trespassing and stealing copies of prosecution depositions on a 15-year-old boy charged with murdering two children in Kobe early last year.
Police suspect the six members of the Revolutionary Marxist faction (Kakumaruha), a group of radical activists, unlawfully entered a Hyogo prefectural hospital in Kobe where a doctor who had conducted psychiatric tests on the boy worked. Police suspect the six stole copies of prosecution depositions that the doctor had received from prosecutors.
MPD investigators searched a Kakumaruha hideout in Tokyo in January and seized a floppy disk containing the prosecution depositions. Other articles seized in the raid indicated that members of Kakumaruha might have been involved in revealing the classified documents, which were published in the March issue of the monthly magazine Bungei Shunju, the sources said.
