The dollar gained further ground against the yen Wednesday, with a Finance Ministry official's warning against speculative attack on the Japanese currency going unheeded.
The dollar changed hands at 133.53-56 yen at 3 p.m., compared with Tuesday's late quotes of 133.37-40 yen. With its strong showing in New York and elsewhere overnight carrying over into Tokyo trading, the greenback hit 133.90 yen at one point in early trading.
