To attract more Japanese customers, Mercedes-Benz Japan Co., a subsidiary of Daimler-Benz AG in Germany, will introduce a new after-sales service program in April, the company said Monday.
The Mercedes Care program, which will only be introduced in Japan, is to provide maintenance services without charge for customers who buy a new Mercedes-Benz passenger car in Japan from April 1, 1998. Under the program, the company will expand the current warranty period of one year from initial registration to three years and guarantee repairs with no distance limit.
Regular replacement of service parts, such as brake pads and fluid, will also be provided, the company said. In addition, it will also start a 24-Hour Touring Support service, in which the automaker will provide on-site repairs, towing services and alternative means of transport in case of accident.
Many of the automaker's rivals have already introduced similar programs, but Mercedes-Benz Japan said it is the only company to provide the services free of charge.
