The following are the key points of the Liberal Democratic Party's stimulus plan:
1) The package will exceed 16 trillion yen, making it the largest implemented yet.
2) Contracts for at least 80 percent -- the highest figure ever -- of public works spending for fiscal 1998 will be signed during the first half of the fiscal year.
3) Implementation of various tax deductions will be studied, while swift deliberations will begin on reviewing corporation and income tax systems to bring them in line with global standards and structural changes in the economy.
4) The government will aim to secure sufficient funds to help troubled Asian economies through means such as additional export-import financing.
5) More public funds, such as postal savings and postal life insurance, will be injected into the stock market.
