Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto has sent messages and urged countries, including the United States, Britain, South Korea and Singapore, to help Indonesia overcome its lingering economic problems, Chief Cabinet Secretary Kanezo Muraoka said March 18.
Hashimoto sent a similar message to the International Monetary Fund, Muraoka told a regular news conference. The messages were sent following Hashimoto's meeting March 15 in Jakarta with Indonesian President Suharto, during which Hashimoto urged the president to carry out reforms in line with the agreement Indonesia reached with the IMF.
Hashimoto explained in the messages what he discussed with Suharto, Muraoka said.
