Industrial output in January rose 2.9 percent from the previous month, remaining unchanged from the preliminary figure, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry said in a report released March 17.
The production index for the nation's mines and factories, which takes 1990 as a base year of 100, came to a seasonally adjusted 101.8, down 3.3 percent from a year ago, according to the report. The shipments index increased 3.4 percent to 103.9, representing an upward revision of 0.3 percentage point from a preliminary rise of 3.1 percent.
The upward revision is attributable to additional data about iron ships as well as to the inclusion of transformers.
